Online Regulatory Guides

These are on UK, EC and International food legislation; all are updated on a regular basis to ensure currency and are available as online versions on a subscription basis, allowing easy access to a range of staff in a particular business.

The UK and EC Regulatory Online Guides detail the information you need to ensure product compliance.

The UK Guide divides into framework food law, including the Food Safety Act, together with sections on general requirements applicable to all products in areas such as labelling, additives and contaminants and sections on specific food groups. These specific sections aim to bring all the relevant legislation for a particular product type, (e.g. soft drinks) together or make it accessible by links to ensure the product is as user-friendly as possible.

The EU Guide is divided into three sections covering the legislative framework, general provisions and specific foods; the Guide provides useful background on the EU as an organisation and details the way in which foodstuffs are regulated. Explanations of current Directives, Regulations and Decisions are provided as well as valuable information on up and coming changes and proposed new food legislation.

The International Guide is split into two sections, EU member states (currently covering 15) and International (covering 7 other major international markets including USA, Japan and Australia). Each country contains a general introduction explaining how the country's legislation is organised, plus sections on acceptability of major groups of additives, certain compositional standards for products such as chocolate, and general labelling requirements.
