FDA takes green tea-flavoured drinks to task in the US.
AOL Health reports that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warnings to the makers of Canada Dry ginger ale and Lipton tea for making 'unsubstantiated nutritional claims' about their green tea-flavoured drinks. The FDA contacted manufacturers over claims made on their respective labels about vitamins and the cholesterol-lowering properties of tea.
The Financial Times (p.11) considers the monetary implications of the obesity epidemic, including the burden it places on employers, care providers and governments in the absence of effective treatments. Among the G20 countries, the US has the highest proportion of obese people, followed by Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
